Child Performance regulations
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has today published Sarah Thane’s report into Child Performance regulations. The report makes a number of recommendations on how the licensing system for child performers can be overhauled and re-balanced.
In responding, the Schools and Culture Secretaries, Rt Hon Ed Balls MP and Ben Bradshaw MP, welcomed the proposals and recommendations made in the report. They wrote: “We will seek to introduce the changes resulting from your review as soon as practicably possible, subject to identifying the best implementation mechanism and any resource implications. We will issue a consultation document on the detailed arrangements in due course. As you indicate, some of the changes proposed in your report are likely to require changes to primary legislation. Other recommendations can be put into effect through amending secondary legislation or by issuing guidance. “
The NCA attended a consultation meeting with Sarah Thane in January with other industry representatives and welcomes the broad thrust of her conclusions. The NCA will work with sector to formulate a response to a consultation when it appears.
